Understanding measurement units, abbreviations, and symbols.
cm stands for centimeter (or centimetre in British English).
' (single prime) represents feet. " (double prime) represents inches. Example: 5'10" means 5 feet 10 inches.
kg stands for kilogram, the base SI unit of mass.
The degree symbol is °. Temperature: °C (Celsius), °F (Fahrenheit). Angles also use °.
The correct SI abbreviation is "lb" (from Latin "libra"). "lbs" is commonly used informally for plural.
